Send your Application Package to SPA for Review and Submission

NIH’s Validation Process

  • Flowchart showing what happens after NIH picks up your Application Package from Grants.gov
  • Sample Email Notifications from NIH
  • Be Proactive! Check your application status in NIH Commons
  • Errors must be corrected and the Application Package resubmitted to Grants.gov
  • Resubmitted packages must have a cover letter attached with explanation
  • Once your application appears in Commons, PIs have 2 business days to review it. Check NIH’s SF424 R&R assembly document explaining how your grant package will be assembled when it is loaded into Commons
  • Applications that are error-free need no further action and will be forwarded for review
  • NIH Validation Checks (Errors and Warnings)
  • NIH Late Policy
